Setting up

How do I set up my profile picture?

Profile → tap the camera badge on the avatar and choose a photo. It's just for you — it never appears on your listings.

How do I change the app's language?

Profile → Language → tap EN or FR. The whole app switches instantly. The language of the LISTINGS the AI writes is a separate setting right below it ("Publish language").

What can I set up in the Profile section?

Everything that's "yours": language, publish language, currency, appearance (light/dark), connected accounts, your default shipping package, resetting the tips and tour, your plan and credits, legal pages, sign-out and account deletion. A quick pass through Profile when you start means the app fits you from the first item.

How do I connect my accounts right away?

Profile → Connect accounts. Connect the platforms you sell and post on once, and every future item can publish there directly. Platforms without a connection still work by copy-paste.

Getting started

What does the app actually do?

Snap an item once; the app writes a full listing — title, description, suggested price — plus matching social posts. You review, tweak if you want, and publish. Under a minute.

Do I need my own marketplace accounts?

Yes. You sell as you: connect your own eBay, social accounts, etc. in Account → Connect accounts. The app prepares and posts through them — it never owns your listings.

How do I sign in on a new phone?

Sign in with Apple, same Apple ID. One account per person.

Is the app in French?

Yes — English and Quebec French, both the app and the listings it writes. App language and listing language are separate settings (Account → Preferences).

Can I see the first-launch tour and tips again?

Account → "Reset tips" brings back the first-launch tour and every one-time tip.

How do I create my first listing?

Tap "Create a listing" on Home (or the Create tab → "Add an item"). Describe the item, add photos, and the AI writes the listing — title, description, price — in under a minute. You review everything before anything is published.

Describing your item

What should I put in each field when I describe an item?

Name: make and model if you know them ("Canyon Sender CFR"). Category: what kind of thing it is. Condition: be honest — buyers trust listings that admit wear. Price paid and purchase date help the AI judge value; accessories and upgrades/repairs make the description richer. The more you give, the better the listing — but only the name is truly essential.

Why does the app ask for weight and size?

Some marketplaces (eBay especially) need a package weight and size to offer real shipping prices. Enter it once — or set a default package in Profile → Shipping defaults and never think about it again.

Can I change what I wrote after the AI has run?

Yes. On the Review screen you can edit any field directly (free), ask the AI to refine specific parts (uses regenerations), or — if the INPUT itself was wrong (wrong name, wrong category) — edit the description form and re-analyze from scratch. Re-analyzing counts as a new item and uses 1 credit, and it replaces the generated listing.

Snapping & photos

How many photos should I take?

A clear main shot first, then a few angles — and always the flaws. Honest photos sell faster and prevent returns.

Why does the first photo matter most?

It's the "hero": it leads your listing and it's what the AI reads first to identify the item.

Can I use photos already on my phone?

Yes — import from your photo library; the app prepares them the same way as camera shots.

Do you change my photos?

They're sized and optimized for each platform. Never watermarked, never altered beyond that.

What photos sell an item best?

A clean wide shot first (it becomes the cover), then close-ups: the brand or engraving, a photo of the brand sticker if possible, and honest close-ups of any flaws. Shoot in daylight against a plain background when you can.

Can I take photos in the app, or use ones from my phone?

Both, in both directions. Shoot directly in the app with the built-in camera, or pull photos you already took from your library. You can even shoot outside the app, edit in your Photos app, and then import the edited versions. And when you copy-paste publish, the app SAVES the item's photos back into your library so you can attach them on the other platform.

Can I edit a photo inside the app?

Yes — tap a photo on Review and choose Edit to crop or rotate it. For heavier retouching, edit in your Photos app and import the result.

How do I change, reorder or remove a photo?

On Review, tap any photo: change it, edit it (crop/rotate), or remove it. Removing is safe — the photo just dims, and nothing is deleted until you save or leave; tap it again to undo. Drag in the reorder view to change which photo leads.

The AI listing

Where does the suggested price come from?

From your photos and details plus market context. It's a starting point — you set the final price, always.

What if the AI gets a detail wrong?

Everything is editable on the Review screen, and you can ask the AI to refine or regenerate. Nothing posts until you say so.

Does regenerating cost anything?

Manual edits are always free. Regenerations are free up to a per-item limit, then use a credit.

What language will my listing be in?

Your listing-language default (Account → Preferences), switchable per item. Independent of the app's own language.

The price shows the wrong currency.

The AI tells you what currency it detected; you can convert on Review. Your stored prices always stay in your account currency.

How do I set my own price?

On Review, the price card offers three suggestions — Sell fast, Fair, Top. Tap one, or open "Set a custom price" and type exactly what you want. Your choice is what publishes.

What are the social posts the app creates?

Alongside the marketplace listing, the app writes matching Instagram/TikTok/Facebook captions with hashtags. Find them on the item's page — copy any of them with one tap when you want to promote the item.

Publishing & platforms

Who posts — you or me?

You. Nothing ever publishes without your tap.

Why is a listing "not ready"?

A platform needed something specific (like a shipping weight). The app shows exactly what's missing and fixes it in a tap.

Can I publish one item to several platforms?

Yes — the listing is adapted to each platform's rules (title lengths, formats) automatically.

A platform I use isn't connectable.

Some platforms don't allow app publishing; for those the app gives you perfectly formatted copy-paste text instead.

How do I connect a marketplace or social account?

Profile → Connect accounts → tap the platform → Connect. It's like signing in — we never see your password. Connected platforms can be posted to directly from the item page.

How does copy-paste publishing work (Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, Pinkbike…)?

Item page → Publish manually → pick the platform. One screen gives you everything: save the photos to your library, tap-to-copy each field (title, description, price, condition, hashtags — each already trimmed to that platform's limits), then "Open app" jumps you straight to their posting form to paste.

How do I mark an item as sold?

Item page → Mark as sold, and enter the real amount you got — that's what feeds your Earned total. Sold items keep their photos and history; you can also archive items you're done with.

eBay specifics

Why does eBay ask for more than other platforms?

eBay requires seller policies, item specifics, and package details on every listing. The app sets these up once so everyday publishing just works.

What are eBay "Business Policies"?

Your payment, shipping, and return rules on eBay. eBay requires them for app-created listings; we detect yours when you connect and guide you if any are missing.

How does the app handle my eBay shipping? (Way 1 vs Way 2)

Way 1 — the default. The app reads your existing eBay shipping policies and pairs them with your package presets (your usual envelope/box sizes and weights). It never changes anything in your eBay account — it just uses what you already have, so publishing works without typing shipping details every time.

Way 2 — optional, for power users. If you want, the app can create and manage a shipping policy in your eBay account for you — built to match how you actually ship. You turn this on explicitly; it never happens by itself.

Either way: you see every shipping detail on the Review screen before anything posts.

First time selling on eBay?

eBay itself requires one-time seller onboarding (identity + payout setup) in your eBay account before any app can list for you. We point you to it if it's not done.

Why can't I edit my listing in eBay's mobile app?

eBay doesn't let its own mobile app edit listings created through the API (their limitation, affects every listing tool). Edit from Pocket Listing Studio, or from eBay on the web.

Shipping & weight

Why does eBay want a package weight?

For calculated shipping rates. With a package preset (below), you'll rarely type one.

What's a package preset?

Your usual package sizes — Envelope, Small box, Heavy — each carrying its weight and dimensions. Pick a default once (Account → Shipping defaults); it auto-applies to every eBay item, one-tap override per item.

I use flat-rate shipping — do I still need weight?

If your eBay shipping policy is flat-rate or letter-mail, no: the default preset covers it and you never enter a weight.

Your items & activity

How do I find an item later?

The Library tab holds everything — search by name, or filter by status (Draft, Active, Sold, Archived). Home shows your most recent items and drafts to review.

What is the Activity tab for?

It's your timeline: items added, published, sold — plus after-sale reminders (ship it, leave feedback) so nothing falls through after a sale.

Account & billing

What's free?

The free plan is full quality — same AI, same listings, no watermark. Plans differ by volume, not quality.

What are "extra listings"?

Pay-as-you-go listings past your monthly allowance. They never expire.

How do I change my currency?

Account → Preferences. Changing it really converts your stored prices at the current rate — it's not just a symbol swap.

How do I change how the app looks?

Profile → Appearance: System, Light or Dark.

What's the "Publish language" setting?

It's the default language for NEW listings the AI writes (English, French — or Both, which costs 1 credit like any single listing). It doesn't change the app's own language.

Privacy & data

Who can see my photos?

Only you — until you publish an item, and then only on the platforms you chose.

What do you send to the AI?

The photos and details of the item you're listing, so it can write the listing. Nothing else from your phone.

How do I delete my account?

Profile → Delete account. It permanently removes your account, listings and photos — you type DELETE to confirm, and it can't be undone. Note: de-identified research measurements (no photos, no identity) may be kept — see the Privacy Policy, Section 7.

Where's the full policy?

Account → Legal & Privacy has the complete Privacy Policy and Terms, in your language.

Help, bugs & requests

How do I report a bug or a problem?

Profile → Help → "Send feedback". Describe what happened — it goes straight to us. Screenshots of the moment help a lot.

How do I suggest a new feature?

Same door: Help → "Send feedback". Tell us what you wish the app did — feature ideas from real selling are exactly what shapes what we build next.

How do I get more credits?

During the beta, write to support@pocketlistingstudio.com and we top you up. (Plans and in-app top-ups arrive with the full launch.)
